HEATH CANDY BAR CAKE 
2 c. brown sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
1 egg, beaten
1 c. milk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Stir sugar into flour and mix well. With pastry blender cut in butter until mixture is like cornmeal. Measure 1 cup and reserving for topping. To rest of mixture add egg, milk, soda, salt, and vanilla. Beat well. Pour into greased loaf pan, spread with topping and bake at 350 degrees for 35minutes.

TOPPING:

6 Heath candy bars, frozen
1 c. reserved mix from above
1/2 c. nuts, chopped

For topping, put Heath bars in freezer. When hard, break bars with hammer. Remove crushed bars from wrappers and blend broken candy with nuts and reserved crumb mixture.

This is a recipe my mom made when we were kids. It remains a family favorite and is DELICIOUS! I'm wondering, though...like just about everything else, Heath Bars have shrunk in size over the years. How many does it really take (in today's sizes); and can you use the Heath Bar pieces that come in packages (like chocolate chips)? If so how many cups would it take? Has anyone tried that?
