ALMOND BROWNIES | |
2/3 c. shortening 4 sqs. (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate 2 c. sugar 1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour 1 c. chopped almonds 1 c. chopped almond paste 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 4 eggs Heat oven to 350 degrees Heat shortening and chocolate in 3 quart saucepan over low heat until melted. Remove from heat. Stir in remaining ingredients. Spread in greased rectangular pan (13 x 9 x 2 inch pan.) Bake until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan, about 30 minutes. Do not over bake. Cool slightly. Cut into bars about 2 x 1 1/2 inches. Makes 36 brownies. |
