ALMOND BROWNIES 
4 sqs. (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate
2/3 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. chopped almond paste

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 9 x 13 x 2 inch baking pan. Heat chocolate and shortening in 3 quart saucepan over low heat until melted; remove from heat. Stir in remaining ingredients. Spread in pan.
