APPLE DUMPLINGS 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. Crisco
1/2 c. milk
Peel, quarter and core 4 apples.
2 c. water
2 c. sugar, 1/2 brown
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla

Knead first 6 ingredients with hands into large bowl. Divide into 8 pieces. Press each piece flat with hands to make about 5 inch circle. Put 2 quarters of apple in center of each circle and wrap up in dough.

Heat last 6 ingredients in saucepan. Put dumplings into 13 x 9 inch pan and pour sauce over. Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve with warm ice cream.
