Sour Milk Chocolate Cake

I made the above chocolate cake with buttermilk, and it was really delicious. However, in 8 inch cake pans it took about 35 minutes, not 20-25!!! The frosting recipe, on the other hand, was a bust! Followed the recipe exactly, but it was full of sugar crystals and didn't thicken!! Mad my own recipe for cooked frosting, and it was perfect. The cake is a keeper!

Great cake but the recipe has no salt. I add one teaspoon of salt.

For the frosting, I would boil the butter, milk and sugar for at least 3 minutes, then add one cup of chocolate chips and stir until melted, instead of the cocoa powder.

I followed this recipe exactly and it poured over the side of the pans. Epic fail! What a mess to clean!

I had to increase the baking time by 10 minutes. The frosting came out just right. I made sure to melt the butter with the milk, then add the cocoa powder, after that was mixed add the sugar using a whisk until sugar was completely dissolved
