BAKED BEANS | |
2 lb. navy beans 2 tsp. baking soda 14 oz. bottle catsup 1 lb. diced bacon 1 1/2 c. white sugar 1/2 c. brown sugar 1 tsp. salt Soak beans overnight. Drain, add fresh water and parboil until skins roll when blown (5-8 minutes). Add soda and stir. Rinse well and add to catsup, bacon, sugars and salt. Fill to top of beans with hot water. Bake 6 hours, uncovered, or until beans are tender. Add hot water periodically if necessary. Oven temperature 300 degrees. |
