IRENE'S HAMBURGER CASSEROLE 
Sometimes my mother used round steak, cut into serving pieces and pounded to tenderize instead of ground beef.

1 lb. ground beef
1 large onion
4 smaller potatoes
1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms, drained
1 (10 oz.) can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup milk or half & half
salt and pepper, to taste

Spray casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray (Pam). Make ground beef into patties. Place patties into dish (salt and pepper to taste); slice onion thinly; place onion slices on top of patties. Peel and slice potatoes thinly; place as next layer (salt & pepper to taste). Empty drained mushrooms on top of this layer. Mix soup and milk and pour over top of all. Cover and bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
