1/2 to 1/3 c. shortening 1 c. brown sugar (or less) 2 eggs 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. flour 3 c. oatmeal 1/2 c. chocolate chips Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, stir. Add dry ingredients. Stir. Drop by teaspoon on cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees. | |

I used half the oats and lowered the oven to 300°F and baked for 13 minutes. Also I added more chocolate chips and 1/4 cup more sugar.
