LIME PICKLES 
1ST STEP:

7 lb. cucumbers, cut in 1/8 inch slices
2 gallons water
2 c. pickling lime

Cover cucumbers with water and lime, soak for 24 hours.

2ND STEP:

Rinse well. Let stand 3 hours in cold water. Drain well.

3RD STEP:

Cover for 8 to 10 hours with cold mixture of:

2 qt. vinegar
9 c. sugar

4TH STEP: Add spices:

1 tbsp. mustard seed
1 tbsp. pickling spices
2 tbsp. whole cloves
4 sm. cinnamon sticks

Boil pickles and spices in syrup for 35 minutes. Place in sterilized jar while hot and seal. Boil in hot water bath for 5 minutes.

Makes 8 pints.
