BREAD AND BUTTER CUCUMBER
PICKLES
 
4 qt. sliced cucumbers (med. size)
6 med. sized onions, sliced
3 tsp. garlic powder
1 green pepper
1 red pepper
1/3 c. salt
5 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
2 tsp. mustard seed
3 c. distilled white vinegar

Slice cucumbers thin. Add sliced onions, garlic and the peppers sliced into narrow strips. Add salt. Mix well and cover with cracked ice. Let stand for 3 hours. Drain; combine remaining ingredients and pour over cucumber mix. Heat to boiling and seal in sterilized jars (8 pints).
