FIG CAKE 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. cooking oil
3 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. fig preserves
1 c. chopped nuts
1/2 tsp. flavor

Sift first 4 ingredients. Add oil, beat well. Add eggs, beaten. Add buttermilk gradually and fig preserves, nuts and flavor. Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes. Pour sauce over cake while hot.

SAUCE:

1 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1 tbsp. corn syrup
1 tbsp. flavor
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Mix all ingredients and boil 5 minutes.
