MISS LUCY'S CAKE 
1 c. butter (or half butter/half butter)
2 c. sugar
3 c. flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. buttermilk
4 eggs
3 tsp. baking powder (scant)
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. water

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Add dry ingredients sifted together, alternately with buttermilk and water, which have been mixed together. Blend well. Add vanilla and blend. Pour into 3 greased and floured pans and bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Note: Do not overcook!
