GREAT COFFEE CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 pt. sour cream
6 tbsp. butter, softened
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. chopped nuts

Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla thoroughly. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda; add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream. Blend well. Spread 1/2 batter in 10 inch tube pan greased and lined with wax paper on bottom. Cream butter, brown sugar, cinnamon; add nuts and mix well. Sprinkle 1/2 nut mix over batter. Cover with remaining batter. Sprinkle on remaining nut mix. Bake at 350 degrees 45 minutes.
