SOUR MILK CAKE 
1 cup sugar
1 heaping tbsp. butter
Pinch salt
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup sour milk or buttermilk

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Mix sugar, butter and salt until creamy; add cocoa, flour and sour milk. When mixed well add baking soda mixed with few drops warm water.

Divide batter between 2 greased and floured 8-inch layer cake pans and bake in a preheated oven until cake springs back in center when pressed with finger and begins to leave sides of pan.

Cool layers in pans on rack 10 minutes; loosen edges and turn out onto racks to finish cooling. Spread icing between layers; ice top and sides of cake as desired.
