AUSTRALIAN PEPPER STEAK | |
2 lbs. round steak 4 tbsp. vegetable oil 2 c. chopped onions 2 cloves minced garlic 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. black pepper 2 c. diced green pepper 1 1/2 c. beef broth 1 1/2 c. drained canned tomatoes 1 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch 1 1/2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1/2 c. water Cut steak into 1/4 inch slices. Heat oil in skillet. Add steak, onion, garlic, and cook over high heat until meat browns. Add salt, pepper, green pepper, broth and tomato. Cover and cool over low heat for 15 minutes. Mix cornstarch, Worcestershire sauce and water. Stir into meat mixture. Cook, stirring steadily until mixture thickens. Serve with rice or mashed potatoes. Serves 6-8. |
