MR. MCGREGOR'S GARDEN PATCH PIE
1 lb. ground beef
1/3 cup dry bread crumbs
1/4 cup ketchup (I use Hunts)
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 cup frozen mixed vegetables

Heat oven to 350°F. Combine ground beef, bread crumbs, ketchup, onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and egg; mix well. Add vegetables; mix lightly. Pat mixture in a 9 or 10-inch pie pan. Bake at 350°F for 30 to 35 minutes or until center is thoroughly cooked; drain.

CHEESY POTATO TOPPING:

1 cup water
3 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 cup mashed potato flakes (I use Hungry Jack)
1/2 cup milk
1 egg, slightly beaten
2 oz. shredded Cheddar cheese
paprika, for sprinkling

In medium saucepan, heat water and butter to a rolling boil; remove from heat. Stir in potato flakes, milk and egg; mix well. Add cheese; blend well. Spoon or pipe potato mixture on top of cooked meat mixture, covering entire top surface. Sprinkle lightly with paprika, and continue baking at 350°F for 10 minutes or until light golden brown. Cut into wedges.

Serves 6-8.

I've been making this for years and it's a family favorite. It is the BEST shepard's pie and everyone loves it. I use real mashed potatoes but the instant will do in a pinch. Use any type of frozen veg. you want.

I'm sorry to disappoint you but this is in no way a Shepherd's Pie. Try again and look up a true Sheperd's Pie uses lamb and not beef and usually no cheese.
