NEXT RECIPE:  CANDIED YAMS

CANDIED SWEET POTATOES (YAMS)
6-8 medium-sized sweet potatoes
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 to 3 tsp. ground cinnamon, or to taste
1 cup melted butter, plus 2 tbsp. melted butter
1-1/2 cups mini marshmallows
1/2 cup pecan chips

Slice sweet potatoes into 1/4 inch round slices. Arrange potatoes in a lightly greased baking dish (approx. 13”x9”x2”).

Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and pecans in a bowl. Sprinkle each layer of potatoes with the mixture. Pour 3/4 cup melted butter over potatoes evenly. Cover and back at 375°F for 30 minutes.

Remove, and baste with remaining 1/4 cup butter. Cover and continue baking for 30 minutes. (If transporting dish, stop here and continue last step at remote location – warm 5-10 minutes in oven before adding marshmallows).

Remove, sprinkle marshmallows evenly on top and continue baking without cover for 5 minutes.

Awesome! Can't have Thanksgiving, much less Christmas without this recipe. So easy a cave man can do it!

Great recipe it got raves even from people who do not eat yams. I cooked it for 30 min. then just reheated it on Christmas Day. It was perfect.

This is the second time I am making this. We really enjoyed it the first time. It was easy to fix. It was so good that I kept this recipe for future use and glad I did because my mom asked me to make it for our Christmas dinner tonight. It's a recipe I can use for a lot of our meals in fact. This is a really good recipe.

I am an American living in Thailand. I had made this recipe for my wife's hard to please family (all Thai) and everyone loved them so much, I had to make them again the next day... Hopefully I don't have to do this everyday from now on. If so, I'll go from thinking this is a great recipe to it being my least favorite... Just joking... Thanks Joe..

This was the best. My daugther helped but was so easy I just sat back and added the memory. Everybody agreed these were better than our sweet potato mashed that we had always made in the past. Thank you Joe for sharing this will be a staple at Thanksgiving from now on and Christmas and.....

Good and easy. I will reduce the butter and only use 1 tsp of cinnamon next time. This is very quick to put together so I would choose this sweet potato recipe over another.

Can I just say that I have never made a sweet potato anything and this came out great and everyone loved it. The only thing next time I'll put a little bit of less sugar, but other than that THANK YOU you saved my life. I'll be trying it again.

I have NEVER liked yams/sweet potatoes, but the rest of the family does. I made these last year instead of the normal recipe I use. They looked and smelled so great I had to try them. Long story short... LOVE THIS RECIPE!!

Joe, I was nominated to bring candied yams to a holiday party and freaked because I had never attempted to make them before. I found your simple and easy to follow recipe and got rave reviews from everyone that ate them! Today I am making my third dish of these delicious yams per special request for yet another holiday get together. Thanks so much for submitting this recipe - it is a favorite with our friends and family!
