BAKED BEEF BRISKET | |
1 boneless beef brisket, 4 lbs. 2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. black pepper 1 clove garlic, minced 3 lg. onions, sliced 1/2 inch thick 1 c. hot water 2 tbsp. cornstarch Put brisket, fat side up, in 13 x 10 inch roasting pan. Season with salt and pepper; sprinkle with garlic. Put onion slices on top of brisket. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour, or until onions are brown. Add hot water to pan, cover with aluminum foil and seal tightly. Reduce heat to 300 degrees and cook 2 hours. Remove brisket and onions to warm platter. For gravy, combine cornstarch dissolved in 1 cup cold water with cooking liquid. Cook, stirring, until sauce boils and thickens. Slice brisket and serve with gravy. 12 servings. |
