ENGLISH WALNUT COOKIES | |
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter 1 cup light brown sugar 1 egg 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 3/4 cups unsifted all-purpose flour 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 cup walnut pieces 1/4 cup chopped maraschino cherries Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla; beat until smooth. Blend in flour, baking soda, and salt. Add walnuts and cherries. Form into a roll 2 1/2-inches wide. Wrap in wax paper; chill several hours. Cut into thin slices, about 1/8-inch thick. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a 400°F oven for 8-10 minutes until browned. |
