ENGLISH DROP COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. cold coffee
2 eggs
2 c. stewed raisins
1/2 tsp. cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves
1 c. chopped nuts
3 3/4 c. + 1 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

Blend shortening and sugar together. Add the coffee alternately with the sifted dry ingredients. Cook raisins in a little water until plump. When cool add to the batter then add the nuts. Drop by spoonful on a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a moderate oven 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Frost with a chocolate frosting while warm. Makes 6 to 7 dozen.
