1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c. butter
1 egg
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and butter very thoroughly. Add egg and beat well. Mix dry ingredients and add the vanilla. Place on a greased cookie sheet--one heaping tsp. of dough. Pressing down with glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. Easy to make--Children love helping to make these.
