DUTCH LACE COOKIES 
1/2 lb. real butter
2 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. syrup
1 c. flour
1 c. oatmeal
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. coconut
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt

Melt butter, water and syrup until hot. Bring to a boil.

In separate bowl, mix dry ingredients. Add hot butter mixture. Drop by teaspoons on greased cookie sheet and bake at 325 degrees until delicately brown. Keep mixing in butter until all dough is baked.

These are big, flat cookies. Put only 6 on a cookie sheet at a time. Cool a minute before taking off cookie sheet. If they get hard, put back in oven a little to soften.
