CHRISTMAS WALNUT TAFFY 
1 c. butter or part butter
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. corn syrup
3 tbsp. water
1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate morsels

Butter 9 inch square pan. Melt butter in 2 quart saucepan. Stir in sugar gradually, add corn syrup and water. Cook over moderate heat. Stir occasionally until dropped in cold water it becomes brittle or 290 degrees on candy thermometer. Add 1 cup walnuts. Cook three minutes longer stirring constantly. Pour into pan. When cold, remove from pan. Melt chocolate over hot water. Coat one side with half chocolate. Sprinkle with half of the nuts. Allow to set a few minutes. Flip over on waxed paper and repeat. Break into bite size pieces.
