MICROWAVE LONG-GRAIN WHITE RICE 
1 1/2 c. hot tap water
1 tsp. vegetable oil
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. raw long grain white rice

Mix water, oil, and salt in a deep 1 quart casserole or bowl; stir in rice. Cover tightly with lid or vented plastic wrap. Microwave on high 4-7 minutes until water starts to boil. Reduce power to medium; microwave 10-12 minutes more until rice is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed. Let stand covered 3-5 minutes until all liquid is absorbed. Fluff with a fork. Makes 2 cups.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
