TEA CAKES 
1 cup butter (no substitutes), softened
1½ cups sugar
3 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 375°F.

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well alter each addition. Beat in vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture (the dough will be soft).

Drop by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto greased baking sheets.

Bake in preheated oven for 7-8 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Remove to wire racks to cool.

Yield: 9 dozen.
