SUGAR COOKIES (Bizcochitos) 
1 c. sugar
2 c. shortening
1 tsp. anise seeds
2 eggs
6 c. sifted flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. water

Cream shortening thoroughly; add sugar and anise seed. Beat eggs and add to shortening mixture. Blend until light and fluffy. Sift flour with baking powder and salt and add to first mixture. Add water and knead unitl well mixed.

Roll 1/2 inch thick and cut into fancy shapes. Roll top of each cookie in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon - 1 teaspoon cinnamon to 1/2 cup sugar. Bake 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until slightly brown.

I remember making this a few years back and them turning out really good! I'm hoping to make them again this year. They're really good if you add nutmeg, especially freshly grated
