AMISH APPLE CAKE 
1/2 c. pecans
2 lg. apples
1/2 c. soft butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 scant tsp. nutmeg
1 c. flour

Chop pecans. Peel and cut apples to make 2 1/2 cups chopped apples.

Cream butter and add sugar, beat until fluffy. Add egg and beat. Add soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add flour. Stir in apples and nuts. Pour into 9" round cake pan. Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

CARAMEL SAUCE:

1/2 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. evaporated milk

Melt butter, brown sugar and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, add milk and vanilla. Keep warm until serving cake, then top cake with sauce.
