EASY HOMEMADE CHICKEN NOODLE
SOUP

1 large can canned chicken (or 2 chicken breasts boiled)
14 tsp. chicken soup base (or to taste)
14 cups water
1 stick real salted butter
1 cup sliced carrots
2 stalks chopped celery
1 small onion
1 package wide egg noodles
salt and pepper, to taste

In a large stock pot, melt butter. Add celery, carrots, and onions. Sauté until onions are clear, do not brown. Add water and soup base (1 tsp. per cup water). Add chicken and bring to a boil until carrots are tender. Add packaged egg noodles, salt and pepper. (Chicken broth can be used but soup base is much cheaper and has a better flavor in this soup).

Easy recipe. I actually used a small bag if baby carrots, chopped in four pieces each, and 6 celery sticks. I broiled the chicken for 25 minutes with a coating of salt, pepper, and Original Mrs Dash. Just perfect! Made the soup start to finish in 35 minutes!

This was SO good and quite possibly the easiest soup I've ever made "homemade". I did add another can of chicken and added some Original Mrs Dash to add some flavor! We loved it!!

I would also like to add that if you are in a big hurry, Kroger has frozen celery, onions, and carrots (cajun mix mire paux) in the frozen food section. Just one bag and your done. I have always received rave reviews from my family and friends with this recipe.

Loved it. I also added some fine chopped cabbage to mine to make it a little thicker. Help me feel a little better and my house smelled great

I myself love the homemade chicken noodle soup recipe! I kinda like to change it up from time to time what I use mainly is these ingredients. Chicken, onions, celery, carrots, egg noodles, salt , pepper, chicken bouillon cubes, basil.

Ingredients vary from time to time. Now depending on how much of what to use depends on the quantity of how many your serving. I m self always boil my chicken and all the ingredients together gives it more of a flavor. Its a quick recipe that approx takes about 30 to 45 minutes considering if everything is from scratch or prepackaged from frozen food section at grocery stores.

I agree with you about cooking everything together. That's how My Mother taught me.

This is the best ever, I just made it this morning and I'm so happy with the results. I just wanted a simple soup to make for my mother on the spot and here it is. Wonderful.

This soup was "da bomb shiggity!" Two kids eat anything and say nothing. The other two are very picky. One of the picky ones opted for a salad. Had her taste soup last night and she ate it for breakfast first thing in the morning before I got up. Husband loved it as well. Umm, umm, good!

I am pleasantly surprised how good this soup turned out! I have never used canned chicken until now and wow, really amazing in this soup! I sautéed garlic, zucchini, carrot and a red potato. Added water, brought to a boil then added "better than bullion" chicken flavor. Let it cook for a bit, turned to medium. Chopped up canned chicken and added to soup. Spiced it with spike, sage, salt and pepper. Let it cook for a bit more and voila! Delicious! Had no noodles so this was just chicken and vegetables. My family ate the entire pot and raved about it. Will make this again!

Wonderful, simple recipe. I am a senior and not up to cooking a lot of time-consuming recipes anymore but still like to eat well. This is a keeper. Thanks so much!

Maybe the worst homemade chicken soup I have had. I thought I'd try this recipe. Seemed like a lot of butter, but everyone said they really liked the soup. I will say that my 2 young girls liked it, but the butter was so strong. It made the broth oily and after awhile it felt like you were just tasting butter.

 Ken replies:
Dennis, seems like all others liked the soup!!! Either don't put butter in it or don't eat!!!

I am the creator of this recipe and I will agree with Ken on Dennis remarks. If you don't like butter don't use it. The worst chicken noodle soup would come from a can. This recipe has been tested at many occasions and requested on soup day at family dinners for years.

I halved this recipe and it turned out great. I used a "Pictsweet Seasoning Blend" I found in the frozen veggies section at the grocery - it has onions, celery, a few peppers and a little parsley in it. I also added some matchstick carrots that I chopped up a little. This made the recipe super easy to make and it cooked faster.
