APPLE CRISP 
4 c. flour
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. oatmeal
1 1/2 c. melted butter
4-6 c. peeled sliced apples

THICKENED SAUCE:

2 c. white sugar
6 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. water
2 tsp. vanilla (added after sauce is cooked)

Slice apples; set aside. Prepare crumb mixture. Pat half of mixture in bottom of a 9 x 13 inch pan. Save remaining half. Cook sauce until thickened. Add vanilla. Toss apples in sauce. Pour into pan. Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture on top. Bake at 350 degrees approximately 50-55 minutes or until apples are done. May be served with whipped cream or Cool Whip on top. Serves 12.
