“FRENCH BUTTER CREAM COOKIES” IS IN:

FRENCH BUTTER CREAM COOKIES 
A Very Tender, Short Cookie.

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1/2 cup shortening (Crisco)
1 1/2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream butter and shortening. Add confectioners' sugar gradually, continuing to cream. Add salt, vanilla and egg. Beat thoroughly. Add flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Mix well. Chill at least 10 minutes.

Form into 1/2-inch balls. Flatten with a fork on baking sheet.

Bake at 350°F for 13 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from baking sheet.

Makes 80 (2-inch) cookies.
