FRENCH CREAM PEANUT BUTTER
COOKIES
 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar (sifted then measured)
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream butter, shortening and peanut butter. Add sugar, beating until mixture is fluffy. Blend in vanilla and egg until creamy. Combine flour, soda, salt, and cream of tartar; add to creamed mixture, blending well. Chill. Roll into 1 inch balls. Roll balls in granulated sugar if desired. Place on cookie sheet. Flatten with fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes.
