SOFT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. white sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
5 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. salt
1 pkg. chocolate chips (12 oz.)

Cream butter, shortening and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat mixture until light and fluffy. Sift together flour, salt and soda. Stir into the creamed mixture. Add the chocolate chips. Drop dough by teaspoon onto UNGREASED cookie sheet. Bake in 375 degree oven until cookies are brown around the edges but the centers are still soft (8 to 9 minutes). Makes 8 dozen. Recipe can be cut in half.
