GRANDMA'S HOLIDAY SAUSAGE | |
2 pounds ground beef (not extra lean) 1 cup water 2 1/2 tbsp. of Tender Quick salt (Mortons) 2 tsp. liquid smoke 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 1/4 tsp. dry mustard 1/4 tsp. black pepper, coarse ground Combine beef with water, mixing well. Blend in remaining ingredients, except pepper. Form beef mixture into 1 or 2 logs, roll in pepper. Wrap logs in aluminum foil; refrigerate for 24 hours. Prepare for baking by punching holes in bottom of foil and place on broiler pan with 1/4 inch water in bottom of pan. Bake at 325°F for 1 1/2 hours. Cool on wire rack and refrigerate for easier slicing. Serve with cheese and crackers. Serve with sweet and spicy mustard for tart taste. Makes 2 loaves. |
