HALF - A - POUND CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
3 eggs
1 1/2 c. cake flour
1/2 c. milk
1/4 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. baking powder

Cream sugar, butter, and shortening until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Combine cake flour and baking powder and add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Add milk, and beat 5 minutes.

Pour batter into a greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour or until done.
