PRUNE CAKE 
1 c. stewed prunes, chopped
1 c. oil
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk

Combine oil and sugar; beat until smooth then add eggs and beat well. Add milk and dry ingredients, mix well. Add prunes, vanilla and beat well. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 55 minutes.

TOPPING:

1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. Karo syrup
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Mix everything except vanilla in large pan; boil 2 to 3 minutes. Add vanilla. While still hot, pour over cake.
