FRESH APPLE PIE 
PASTRY:

1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. orange juice
1/2 c. shortening

Mix flour and salt. Cut in shortening. Add orange juice and mix to form a ball. Roll thin and make bottom crust and cross strips for top.

PIE:

1/2 c. fresh or frozen orange juice
4 tart apples, sliced thin
1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. flour

Combine orange juice, apples, butter and 1/2 cup of sugar. Cook over low heat until apples look clear. Remove from heat. Stir in combined flour and remaining 1/2 cup sugar. Pour into pie shell. Top with latticed pastry and bake at 350 degrees until golden brown.
