CHEESE GRITS 
1 qt. milk
1 stick butter
1 c. grits (not quick cooking kind)
3 wedges Gruyere cheese
1/2 c. Cheddar cheese
1/2 stick melted butter

Heat milk and 1 stick of butter until almost boiling. Add grits slowly and cook, while stirring, until it begins to thicken.

Remove from heat and add a little pepper. Beat with an electric mixer for 5 minutes.

Pour into a baking dish to cool. When cold, cut in short strips, and stack like dominoes in a baking dish. Add grated cheeses and 1/2 stick melted butter on top.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
