KIELBASA CASSEROLE | |
1 1/2 lbs. kielbasa (Polish sausage) or smoked sausage 2 med. potatoes, cut in lg. chunks 2-3 carrots, thickly sliced 1 med. onion, cut in chunks 1 bell pepper, sliced 1 clove garlic, minced 1 can stewed or whole tomatoes, undrained 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce 1 bay leaf 1/2 med. green cabbage 2 tbsp. oil Cut sausage into 1 1/2 - 2 inch pieces. Brown lightly in large saucepan and add about 1 cup of water. Cook 10 to 15 minutes. Drain and reserve sausages. Discard water. Put remaining ingredients in saucepan (except cabbage and butter) and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes. In the meantime, saute cabbage in oil until crisp tender. Place in bottom of 9x11 inch baking pan. Add meat to mixture in saucepan. Pour over the cabbage. Bake covered in 350 degree F. oven 30 minutes. |
