BATTY CAKES 
1 c. yellow corn meal
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg, beaten
1 1/4 c. buttermilk

Sift dry ingredients, add egg and buttermilk. Stir till smooth. Drop by tablespoons on greased griddle. This is a kind of corn meal pancake. Crispy around the edges and very tasty with butter and syrup.
