1 c. seedless raisins 3/4 c. Crisco 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. chopped nuts 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. baking powder 1 c. water 2 eggs 2 c. rolled oats 1 1/2 c. plain flour 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. cloves 1 1/2 c. sugar Simmer raisins in water over low heat until they are plump. Drain raisins, saving 1/4 cup liquid. Cream Crisco, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in raisin liquid. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt, and spices. Add to creamed mixture. Stir in oats, nuts, and raisins. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2-inches apart. Bake at 350 degrees until lightly browned. DO NOT OVERBAKE. Ice white warm. ICING: 1 box 10X sugar Milk 1 c. Crisco Mix together sugar and Crisco. Add enough milk to make a soft icing. |
