APPLE KUCHEN 
CRUST:

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
1 pkg. yellow cake mix (your choice)
1/2 cup flaked coconut

Preheat oven to 350°F. Cut butter into cake mix (dry) until crumbly. Mix in coconut. Pat mixture lightly into ungreased oblong pan 13x9x2-inch building up slight edges. Bake 10 minutes.

FILLING:

1 (20 oz.) can pie sliced apples, well drained (or 2 1/2 cups sliced pared baking apples)
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup dairy sour cream
2 egg yolks or 1 egg

Arrange apple slices on warm crust. Mix sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle on apples. Blend dairy sour cream and egg yolks. Drizzle over apples. Bake 25 minutes or until edges are light brown; leave warm.

VARIATIONS:

Pear Kuchen: Substitute 2 (16 oz. each) cans sliced pears, drained on paper towels and 1 package chocolate cake mix instead of yellow cake mix.

Peach Kuchen: Use 1 (29 oz.) can sliced peaches, drained and 1 package of white cake mix or sour cream white cake mix instead of yellow.
