QUICHE LORRAINE 
8 slices bacon
1 c. chopped onions
1 unbaked deep-dish pie shell
1 c. shredded Swiss or cheddar cheese
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1 pt. 1/2 and 1/2
1/4 tsp. each basil, nutmeg, salt and pepper

Brown bacon until crisp; crumble. Using same pan, cook onions until tender. Layer bacon, onions and cheese in pie shell. Combine eggs, cream and seasonings; pour over bacon mixture. Bake in 400 degree oven for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake 30 minutes or longer until knife comes out clean off-center.
