“BEST SPINACH AND ARTICHOKE DIP” IS IN:

BEST SPINACH AND ARTICHOKE DIP 
Yummy! A Party Favorite!

1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen spinach, thawed
1 jar marinated artichokes, chopped
1 (8 oz.) pkg. Philly cream cheese
1 cup dairy sour cream
3/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
8 oz. shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1/2 onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
red pepper flakes, to taste

Sauté onions in butter, adding ingredients while mixing and blending well after each addition. Add ingredients in this order: Spinach, Cream Cheese, Sour Cream, Parmesan Cheese, Artichoke Hearts, Crushed Red Pepper Flakes.

Remove from heat and put in crocks or microwave dish. Top with Monterey Jack Cheese and melt.

Serve hot with chips or bread.

Note: May also add Mozzarella Cheese on top and lightly brown.

Wow this was really great. But I had a heart attack immediatly afterwards. Whole stick of butter? Cheese, cheese, and then more cheese? I am going to make this again, but literally use half the cheese and butter.

I stumbled across this recipe for a New Years Eve party and it was amazing! Everyone loved it and wanted me to share the recipe. I've since made it for for another party I've gone to as well. YUM! I do alter a bit - add a few cloves of minced garlic to the onion when it's sauteing, and season the final dish with fresh cracked pepper, cayenne pepper, and some paprika. YUM!

Been using this recipe for a few holidays now and it is always a hit! The warmth of the red pepper flakes is a nice touch. I also add a red bell pepper for extra flavor...... delicious!
