FRESH APPLE CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
4 c. pared, finely cut apples
1 c. whole bran cereal

Sift together flour, soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Blend butter and sugar, beating until fluffy; add eggs and beat well. Stir in apples, All Bran, and sifted dry ingredients. Spread in well greased 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) about 40 minutes. When cool, spread with Fluffy Frosting. Cut into squares to serve. Yield: 24 (2 inch) squares.

FLUFFY FROSTING:

2 1/2 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar

Measure flour into small saucepan; add milk gradually, stirring until smooth. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is thick. Cool; blend butter and sugar until fluffy. Add flour mixture and beat until light and of spreading consistency. Spread on cake; sprinkle with nutmeats, if desired.
