BREAKFAST IN BED FRENCH TOAST
2 eggs
1/3 cup milk
1/8 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
pinch of nutmeg (optional)
1/4 tsp. cinnamon (or more, to taste)
1/2 tsp. vanilla
8 slices white bread or 6 slices Texas Toast
1 tbsp. melted butter

Beat eggs very lightly, add milk, sugar, spices and vanilla. Stir in melted butter.

Heat a skillet or griddle until hot; brush with butter.

Pour egg mixture into a shallow dish or pan. Place slices of bread in pan for 30 seconds; turn over to soak other side. (Do this one or two slices at a time as needed.)

Fry bread until browned on each side.

Breakfast in Bed French Toast

 Mark Miller (Wisconsin) says:
Good stuff! I like the nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla. I used 1/2 the sugar and a 3rd egg but I could only do 5 slices of wholegrain bread of a "standard" size and thickness, so you might need more of the recipe for more slices (I think white bread would soak up more than my wholegrain, and certainly Texas toast).

I doubled the recipe thinking I would get 16 pieces of toast. I used Italian white loaf-style bread but only managed to do 8 slices.

Prepared it for my wife, a French toast fanatic, on Mother's Day. She was very, very pleased.

This was my first time making french toast and my fiance was really impressed. French toast was my reason for many morning trips to Ihop, lol! Thank you =)

I should read reviews more carefully, I love the flavor of the mix, just had to double mix to to do 10 pieces. I didn't let it soak that long, but my kids ate it down like they were starved for a week, then "is there more?"

Wife is very picky on FT. Loved this but next time a bit more cinnamon and touch more vanilla (her preference)

The recipe turned out really good... I used a little more cinnamon and no nutmeg. The only problem I came across was the recipe says you can make 8 slices of white bread but we were only able to barely get 4 slices and the last slice wasn't completely covered.

I did half the ingredients and it only covered two slices of regular bread. I also served them with powdered sugar. YUM! I will be keeping this recipe. Thanks.

Soooo easy and tasty! I did make a couple of changes. Instead of nutmeg and cinnamon, I used a dash of Allspice and instead of sugar I used Splenda brown sugar, yum. I didn't use milk and it still came out great! Thanks for this recipe!
