ITALIAN CREAM CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. Crisco
1 stick butter
5 eggs, separated
1/2 c. pecans, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
Dash salt
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. coconut
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream Crisco, butter and sugars. Add egg yolks and beat well. Add all ingredients (except egg whites) and beat well. Beat egg whites stiffly. Fold in fast. Bake in 2 or 3 greased and floured pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

FILLING AND ICING:

1/2 stick butter
1 box powdered sugar
8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream and spread on cooled layers.
