1 c. warm water 1 tsp. salt 4 tbsp. sugar 1 pkg. yeast or 1 yeast cake 6 tbsp. Wesson oil Plain flour Combine warm water, salt, sugar and yeast in a large bowl. Stir to dissolve sugar and yeast. Add oil. Stir in enough plain flour to make a soft dough (firm enough to handle). Let rise in bowl, in warm place, about 1 hour. Turn out on floured surface. Knead until firm enough to roll out. (Add flour while kneading if too sticky.) Roll out on floured surface to about 1/2" thick. Cut out with biscuit cutter and place in greased 13"x9" pan. Brush tops with melted butter. Set pan in warm place to rise a second time, about 1 hour. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until tops are brown. |
