CUSTARD PIE WITH MERINGUE 
4 eggs, separated
3/4 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1 c. evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla
8 tbsp. sugar
1 partially baked pie shell

Beat egg yolks and 3/4 cup sugar together. Put in medium saucepan over low heat. Melt butter in egg mixture, stirring constantly. Remove from heat when butter melts. Add evaporated milk and vanilla. Pour into crust and bake for 15 minutes at 400 degrees. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and continue to bake until custard is set. Use 4 egg whites with 3 tablespoons sugar for meringue. After beating, spread on pie and return to oven to brown.
