CALIFORNIA WALNUT BREAD | |
3 c. all-purpose flour 1 c. sugar 4 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 c. coarsely chopped Diamond walnuts 1 egg, beaten 3/4 c. shortening 1 1/2 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla Resift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt into mixing bowl. Stir in 1 1/4 cups walnuts. Add egg, shortening, milk and vanilla. Mix just until ingredients are blended. Turn into greased and floured loaf pan, 9x5x3-inches. Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup walnuts over top. Bake at 350°F for 60 to 70 minutes. Let loaf stand in pan 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire rack to cool. Makes 1 large loaf. |
