WHOLE WHEAT MUFFINS 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sifted flour
3/4 c. whole wheat flour
1 egg
3/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. In separate bowl, sift flours, salt and baking powder. Alternately to cream mixture, add flour mixture and milk. Bake in muffin pans at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
